About Us

Stetson University offers a unique, experiential learning program by enabling students to procure deal flow, meet with founders and CEOs to fund private investment opportunities.  Students lead the program:

• Learning about deal structure, terms sheets and financial reporting
• Experience deal sourcing through partners like the Florida Venture Forum and deal flow from, early-stage venture capital firms and other angel groups
• Providing due diligence on companies.

 Students review 50-75 investment opportunities each semester. We have reviewed over 700 companies since 2021. The Hatter Angels (Stetson faculty and alumni that are accredited investors) play an active role inside and outside of the classroom - sharing their experiences, helping with internships and career placements. Students, ultimately, make recommendations to the Hatter Angels.  The angels review each opportunity and fund the investments using their own money. No school funds or endowment funds are used at this time.  Ultimately, the program will be self-funded using gains from future liquidity events.

Every investment from the Hatter Angels provides a financial commitment back to Stetson University.  We pledge 50% of our profits, after expenses, back to the Hatter Angel Investment Program.

to date, we have made eleven investments in eight companies totaling $1,520,000 since November 2021.
