Stetson University offers a unique, experiential learning program by enabling students to procure deal flow, meet with founders and CEOs to fund private investment opportunities. Students lead the program:

Students review 50-75 investment opportunities each semester. We have reviewed over 800 companies since 2021. The Hatter Angels (Stetson faculty and alumni that are accredited investors) play an active role inside and outside of the classroom - sharing their experiences, helping with internships and career placements. Students, ultimately, make recommendations to the Hatter Angels. The angels review each opportunity and fund the investments using their own money. No school funds or endowment funds are used at this time. Ultimately, the program will be self-funded using gains from future liquidity events.
The Hatter Angel Investment Program is a student-directed Signature Program at Stetson University that enables alumni and faculty to invest in privately held companies. Our 40 angels donate 50% of our profits back to the university to grow and fund the program. As of January 2026, we have made twelve investments totaling $1.62 million in nine companies.
